Business Development Updates:
Feb 2018
Commencing another commission with Turner and Townsend to support the growth of their Estimating Hubs across the UK within the Transport and Infrastructure sectors.
Network Infrastructure Consultants have helped grow business capabilities for Commercial Consultant clients since 2014.
Sweett Group engaged our services to grow an Estimating function in 2014 utilising some of their existing commercial staff, and by bringing in new dedicated Estimators as the function grew. After undertaking a review of [1] their existing client base and [2] inherited staff for the Estimating function, we approached the growth potential in terms of:
1. Undertake subsequent scoring exercise to rate their existing client base in terms of most likely to benefit from the service capability.
2. Complete a desktop study of existing staff capability and areas of strengths and weaknesses in order to position the team where they will benefit 'Estimating' and sector the most.
3. Identify where the key areas of training are required for existing staff.
Once a business strategy has been produced we then, with the support of senior management, commence the process of contacting existing clients with Marketing team in order to set up meetings with the intention of educating all involved with the full and specifically relevant capability, tailored to each client. Example of Service Capability.
During the first year the target of £500k gross turnover for the practice was exceeded and we in fact secured £1.25million of revenue, with the second year not too far behind at the point when we handed over to the new full time Projects Director.
After being head hunted by Schofield Lothian in 2016 we worked closely to set up a business growth strategy for a brand new Estimating Practice. Tony Minihane based himself in the heart of the Executive Directors working very closely to manage a process similar to that above, whilst aligning himself with his existing relevant client base to offer an alternative or another option when considering employing a consultant, or tendering work under existing frameworks. We wrote bespoke capability flyers for clients (example here) We worked hard to ensure that Schofields could be relevant in the fields and sectors of strongest expertise, whilst growing in education and capabilities outside of these areas. This commission lasted 12 months and set a strong foundation for the new and full time post of Estimating Practice Manager.
Currently we are working closely with Adeo Construction Consultants to grow a new dedicated Estimating practice. Working closely with both the Managing Director and the Marketing Director in order to set up a strategy going forwards, which will employ the above processes in respect to their existing clients. We are also providing advise to the marketing team by way of educational development for Estimating as a function and both how & where it can benefit their existing clientele. We have written some bespoke marketing papers (example here) which the marketing team can use when meeting and updating clients with the new service capability. This is a ongoing commissions currently (November 2017).
